Pandemic ka lang, I am Filipino

     Months after the cursed coronavirus sprawled out of our hands, the outlook of the Filipino people was shrieking bleak. A virus a thousand times smaller than an ant has plunged the burgeoning economy into a technical recession, shed light on our deeply flawed systems, and robbed her of her brightest and best.

     Early inaction coupled with a lack of quick, decisive leadership spun a simple stroll to the store for candy or an innconent morning jog to a lonesome country road into a nightmare. Our age's truth was in the graphs, it flaunted an upsurge of positive cases from mid-March until the end of August. People were shackled by fear from the unholy oppression loitering outside family circles. 

     Most of us was like a modern day rapunzel story. Mind-numbing isolation, boredom, loss of social splendor, and lack of support prompted us to lose hope in dark times we are treading, as the light at the end is still not in sight. We learners lost contact with our relatives and friends and have met a myriad of grievous daily life realities, from parents who may be unsure where the next meal or rent payment will come or how our parents, are to make ends meet.

     As 2020 draws to a close, learners of all shapes and sizes must regain lost ground. We must continue to foster our social and emotional skills and learn to adapt to the new normal to cope with novel levels of trauma. One example is to find new means of leisure to keep ourselves enthralled and make isolation proactive.

     We learners through the internet must share ideas and work to form a common vision for a shared future. Today that we all have the means and knowlege to evict change, we have to act. The cure is well underway and there is reason to be optimistic. The more we do, the more the earth will help rebuild and remake itself. What is needed is a concerted effort not only from us but to each and everyone from ourselves upwards.

This Soul-renching existential plague has rob the Philippines of her brightest and best. Let the historians pick up their pens to write the story of the 21st cneturty, let them write it was our generation who laid down the heavy burdens of covid atlast. 

Hands-on Photoshop

          Ict had led my virtual world of fantasize to exist once more. At the end of this quarter I had my expertise sharpened in particular the use of Photoshop to create my very own works for display. It had shared the whole idea of how editing works but until now I still trouble and tremble at its mercy. I had fun working out activities, to discuss with my seatmates had never been more interacting!

          Moreover Ill still continue to flourish my flaws in front of screens and over the four walls of the classroom.

My Dream, My future

          Every night I dream of living a life of a dusty engineer, digging up pits to collect samples to later on map and analyze. In my dream I see myself dressed in rugged clothes, sweating and eyeglass free. It is my dream to work in the construction industry, handling surveying and mapping equipment that I'll someday wield to scale the metes and bounds of lands, positions of points on the surface, water depths, underwater configuration, ground elevation, gravity, isostasy, crustal movements and the size and shape of the earth, until I earn millions. This very dream encourages me to do better and better and move towards my goal. My kin always tells me that someday I will live up to my dreams for my success will resonate and my nameplate will be the first of its kind.

          Apart from the theoretical part, I can always count on my father to share with me the practical wisdom that will aid me to shape my dream. This will one day be my story.

Ilocos Sur National Highschool Celebrates 118th Foundation Day

          Foundation Day is a celebration in a school to commemorate when a school was established. It is one of the awaited event in a school. It is an annual celebration that every student participates.

          Ilocos Sur National High School celebrates their awaited Foundation Day annually and this school year marks its 118th High School Day celebration. ISNHS foundation day starts in the month of March. This is a two-day celebration wherein varied activities are done to celebrate Ilocos Sur National High School's Foundation Day.

          There is a coronation, a parade of different grade levels in their respective costumes and a field demo.

          In the first day, March 1, the coronation was held. The King and Queen, joined by their Prince and Princesses are to be given honor. They wore crowns, sash, trophies, and bouquets as gratitude.

          In the second day, the parade of costumes was done. Different grade levels from grade 7 to grade 12 showcased their costumes and props around Vigan. In the afternoon, the most awaited part, the Field Demonstration of the students. At 1 pm, the Arrival of Honors was done. After the guest speaker(s) deliveres his message, the field demo will start.

          The program closes with acknowledgment of all the participants of the event and extending gratitude to the alumni of the school.

Ilocos Sur: Viva 2020 Kannawidan

          This 2020, the townsfolks of Ilocos Sur will hold the 13th Kannawidan Ilocos Festival - in memory of the 202 year aniversary, honoring the birth of the province.

          This festival at the end of January is made to showcase the best of Ilocos Sur culture, from traditional dress and folk dance to tribal rituals and marching band contests.

          A total of 48 contenders will unveil their talents in a 13 day period marking the start of the prestigious event. Apart from largely boosting Ilocos Sur's tourism, the bizzare culture of Ilocos is the motive why we celebrate Kannawidan Festival that started under the leadership of former governor Deogracias Victor “DV” B. Savellano in 2008.

         Kannawidan Festival took its first onset on the 2nd of February 2008 im memory of the 190th year anniversary of the enactment of the Royal Decree that will divide the provice of Ilocos into Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte. In 2019, the townsfolks of Ilocos Sur together with Ilocos Norte
celebrated the 201 year anniversary of going independent.

          May we invite you visitors to take part in our Kannawidan Festival and to witness what we have in store for you. Come one and come all to be our guests for 2 weeks of endless joy.

Change: starts in me 

     

          "If one wishes to change reality he must start with himself first and attend to his own personal needs. In doing so, anxiety give way to answers and no longer alarms you".

          These days, those ones with a growth mindset see hellacious hurdles as troubles to be solved, drinking it in with enthusiasm and freewill. Others might tend to give up before they start however those with a good mindset welcome change.

          A Utopian paradise does not need exist for us to be joyous and all smiles. We can still thrive despite the unrest in today, truth is outside fears aren’t as bad as you think they are.

          It is futile trying to neglect the past because life is constantly shifting for the better or for worst. Elders say It is like trying to keep plates spinning on top of a stick while more plates are added. You cannot keep up and they will eventually come crashing down.

          Be open minded and trust in yourself. Have belief in your skills, be honest with yourself and never let anyone stand in your way be it the odds themselves.

Naragsak a Piesta Ciudad Vigan!

The Vigan City Fiesta is held every 25th of January. It is in honor of the conversion of St. Paul the Apostle- Vigan City’s patron saint.

          Before his conversion, St. Paul was known as Saul, a zealous persecutor of Christians. After he was touched by a personal encounter with Jesus Christ on his way to Damascus, his name was changed to Paul and he endured a lot of hardships and danger to spread the word of God to far places. He taught the gospel of Christ to the first-century world and founded several Christian communities in Asia Minor and Europe.

          Vigan’s main church, the Metropolitan Cathedral is in honor to St. Paul and it stands at the core of the Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia. The major Catholic educational institution in Vigan that stands beside the church is also dedicated to the patron, the St. Paul College of Ilocos Sur. The Vigan City Fiesta usually lasts for several days. It includes within the period the celebration of the anniversary of the cityhood of Vigan, which is commemorated every January 27.

          Biguenos from all over the country and even abroad return to Vigan, as it is the custom of Filipinos to return to their hometown to join their family and friends in the celebration of their fiesta. They are joined by thousands of visitors from other parts of the Philippines and other countries in enjoying the cultural shows, parades and street dancing prepared by the local government with the help of the local industries and communities. There are also food fairs, arts and crafts exhibits, as well as a visiting carnival.

        New Year New Me

          I failed to change my habits chiefly now for my petty brain craves for new routine and resist change. I do admit it was hard to try to do things i am not accustomed to, only to find myself falling back into old patterns.

          Having failures in the past is stressful—and it’s ought to get worst when I opt for self-flagellation in the face of my setbacks or lapses.  I was hard on myself for all of the mistakes i made. But what i had  learned is i''ll be less likely to make the same mistake again instead I’ll motivate myself towards the better me. 

          At the end of year 2019 i felt self-compassion not pity.  i start to be warm and give of out most support towards myself. i did fall short of my goals. It led to anxiety and less peace of mind the previous year, but through all that it made me feel more motivated to make the improvements i truly need. 

Duty to STOP VAWC

 In the Philippines, efforts to make governance gender responsive are promoted through legislation, such as the Magna Carta of Women (MCW) which mandates non-discriminatory and pro-gender equality and equity measures to enable women’s participation in the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of policies, plans, and programs for national, regional, and local development.

          The Creation of mechanisms to ensure the integration of VAWC core messages are embedded in the programs of all stakeholders, primarily in the education curriculum starting grade 3's upto University.

          An integral system is to exist among the Filipino society to ensure a holistic approach in handling VAWC cases and standards for the delivery of services for victim survivors of VAWC to ensure the timely systematic, synchronized and effective response to cases of VAWC.

          To achieve the vision of “A gender - fair and empowered society that protects its people especially women and children from any form of violence and exploitation thus enabling them to fully exercise their rights and participate in all development efforts, and experience a peaceful and fulfilling family and community life.”

 "It is proven that empowering women produces extensive and significant effect on economic and development growth. As a result, calls for concerted efforts emerged worldwide in the 1960s to counter gender disparity".
